践享第八期 被解放的设计

互联网时代的技术跃进和产业细分赋予了每个人前所未有的自由,设计师当然也无法“幸免于难”,这种解放除了工作方式,还主要体现在两个层面:首先是设计的角色,传统的被动雇佣式的“设计服务”越来越多地转型为主动参与式的“设计合伙”;其次则是设计的传播,从传统繁杂的线下转向轻型高效的线上,设计的推广和交易得以从累赘的渠道成本中解脱,从而能够更加快速地与使用者建立连接。这两种解放无疑都将使设计行业呈现出许多新的可能。这一期的践谈践享,我们邀请了两位嘉宾,跟我们一块从这两个层面来聊一聊,那些被解放的设计和设计师们。

位于曼哈顿下东区的Doka Square是一家经营亚洲美食的酒吧餐厅。作为Doka Square的创始人之一, Michelle Ma也是餐厅的经理和设计师。在进入餐饮行业前,Michelle在HOK公司从事建筑设计工作。

Michelle毕业于宾大设计研究生院。在建筑师职业生涯的第三年,她开始进行独立实践并承担了改造她父亲餐厅的项目。继而又通过构建pop-up餐厅Asian Spicy Curry,Michelle加深了对餐饮行业的认知。她于不久后创建了Doka Square并经营至今。本周日,Michelle将与我们分享她关于设计、经营和美食的故事。

Michelle Ma is the founding partner, business manager and designer of Doka Square, an Asian Fusion bar-restaurant located at Lower East Side of NYC. Before entering restaurant business,she worked as an architect in HOK.

Michelle graduated from Penn design with a March. After 2 and a half years working as an architecture designer, she decided to take her father's offer and created her first project to modernize her parent's existing business while developing the concept for the restaurant. Michelle would also create a small pop-up restaurant, AsianSpicy Curry, to get her taste of the restaurant business. After several months, Michelle opened Doka Square, where she continues to manage and refine thebusiness. This Sunday, Michelle will share her stories and insight about design,business and food.

1stdibs是当下最流行的奢侈商品网络交易平台,它致力于构建全球的网络以链接古董交易商、设计展示机构、艺术画廊和世界范围内稀有商品的网络目录。在1stdibs出现以前,奢侈商品的买卖方只能在线下以个人方式进行,比如古董和艺术品交易。1stdibs创建了网络平台提供给买卖双方进行线上无缝交易的便利。

过去十年之中,设计产业在商业模型和工具方面都经历了进化。大量的产品设计师和艺术家开始利用线上工具吸引顾客。同时,越来越多的室内设计师和设计从业者成为了1stdibs的主要使用者。作为1stdibs的首席产品运营官,Xiaodi Zhang将为我们讲述技术进步给设计行业带来的全新可能性。

Xiaodi Zhang,1stdibs的首席产品运营官,负责网站平台的产品策略,同时领导着用户体验和网站设计部门。在加入1stdibs,Xiaodi在Gilt Group和 ebay负责过长期的管理工作。

1stdibs is the world's leading marketplace of luxury objects, building a global network of antique dealers and design showrooms and fine art galleries and an online catalog of the world's rare and desirable objects. Prior to 1stdibs, buyers and sellers of rare luxury objects such as antiques and fine art have only transacted offline and in person. 1stdibs has been able to create a platform to allow buyers and sellers transact seamlessly online.

The design industry has undergone an evolution in business model and tools over the last decade. A lot of product designers and artists utilized online tools to attract customers. Meanwhile, increasing numbers of interior designers and design professionals became 1stdibs’ top buyers. As the chief Product Officer at 1stdibs, Xiaodi Zhang will present to us the new possibilities available to designers made possible by technology advance.

Xiaodi Zhang currently works as the Chief Product Officer at 1stdibs. She oversees the product strategy of the site platform, along with leading the user experience and site design organizations. Before joining 1stdibs, Xiaodi played various leadership roles at Gilt Group and eBay.
