Towards Independence

An Architect, traditionally known as the "master builder", is a person who plans, designs, and oversees the construction of buildings. He/she is required to operate and think independently from the traditional doctrine or prevailing opinions in order to find “novelty in the use of assigned patterns”. Therefore, to be an Architect is often associated with possessing an individual perspective. "Towards Independence", is a dialogue with Tong Ming, a Shanghai based architect and scholar, on architectural profession, the academic, and the nature of architectural design practice.
